چکیده

The bandwidth allocation in both wired and wireless networks has posed great challenges to network engineers for improving desirable Quality of Service (QoS), Bandwidth allocation is always an important element for improve QoS of network. Despite this, IEEE 802.16e-2005 does not have a bandwidth allocation algorithm or mechanism to support (worldwide interoperability for microwave access) WiMAX network presently. This includes both uplink (UL) and downlink (DL) directions. Thus, most of researches are focusing in this area. In order to improve the QoS of WiMAX demand, the total capacity of WiMAX system must be optimized. Thereby, in this research, a new bandwidth allocation mechanism for WiMAX network is proposed, called On Demand Bandwidth Allocation (ODBA). The proposed mechanism design has the management module in the Subscribe Station (SS), which is for management UL bandwidth, and one new module in the Base Station (BS). This includes UL/DL bandwidth allocation and service flow schedule. We tested the new mechanism by running in the simulation of OMNET++. As the results show that the ODBA mechanism has improve the scheduled probability (SP) and increase the throughput of WiMAX network.

Performance Analysis of QoS in PMP Mode WiMax Networks

IEEE 802.16 standard supports two different topologies: point to multipoint (PMP) and Mesh. In this paper, a QoS mechanism for point to multipoint of IEEE 802.16 and BS scheduler for PMP Mode is proposed. This paper also describes quality of service over WiMAX networks. Average WiMAX delay, Average WiMAX load and Average WiMAX throughput at base station is analyzed and compared by applying diff...

Performance Analysis of Quality of Service in PMP Mode WiMax Networks

IEEE 802.16 standard supports point-to-multipoint (PMP) and Mesh topologies. This paper proposes a quality of service (QoS) mechanism for IEEE 802.16 in PMP mode and a base station (BS) scheduler for PMP mode. It also describes the QoS over WiMAX networks. The average WiMAX delay, load, and throughput at the BS were analyzed and compared by applying different schedulers at the BS and fixed node...

A Novel MAC-layer Scheduling Scheme for Improving soft-QoS Support in IEEE 802.16(d) Mesh Networks

The IEEE 802.16(d) standard (also known as WiMAX) is a promising technology for future fixed broadband wireless access (FBWA) systems. There are two operation modes defined in this standard. First, the point-to-multipoint (PMP) mode aims to replace the traditional wired last-mile solutions. Second, the Mesh mode is designed for the next-generation wireless metropolitan area networks (Wireless-M...
